Looking for a fun summer camp idea for your child? KJ Equestrian offers 4-day long summer camps through the months of June, July, and August that offer students ages 6 and up the opportunity to not only ride, but to learn the care and keeping of horses as well!
Our instructors are positive, energetic, and emphasize safety and fun! Students may chose to ride Western, English, or give both a try! Our camp sizes are small to offer individualized attention to each rider throughout the day. We have large indoor and outdoor arenas, a small riding paddock, a round pen, and space to "trail ride" on the property! Our horses are all extremely friendly and love their jobs! Every one of our lesson/camp horses has come from a professional riding or show career. They are all very well-trained and do a great job helping our riders gain confidence and learn correct riding.
Summer camps run from 9am to 2pm, Tuesday through Friday. Students spend time throughout the day not only riding and learning new skills in the saddle, but also learning how to properly care for the horse, including such activities as learning how to groom and tack a horse, handling, bathing, veterinary care, farrier care, stall cleaning, feeding, etc. We also allot some time for trivia and other fun games that increase the student's knowledge base of horses in general (such as breeds, anatomy, and riding disciplines)! For the most part, students are paired with the same horse for the whole week. For our more advanced riding camps, students may switch horses throughout the week in order to get as much exposure to different horses as possible (the more horses you ride, the better you get!). Students are also allowed to board their own horses with us for the week, which allows horse and rider to grow and learn together (contact us if interested)! On Friday afternoon, family and friends are invited to join us for a horse show in which riders put on a drill team performance and show off the riding skills they learned during camp! Each student takes home a camp souvenir, as well!
We ask that each student bring their own lunch each day. We’re happy to accommodate requests for students to attend camp with their friends - just let us know on your registration form! An extended pick-up time is available at the end of the day and students will be entertained with horse-related games, etc to occupy the time until parents are able to arrive (additional daily rate for extended pick-up does apply).
Registration for 2018 summer camp is now open! The 2018 summer camp rates are as follows:
